William (Bill) K. Stidham came to painting after a bruising experience trying to publish his contemporary fiction novel. Stidham spent four years writing, editing, choosing an agent, and shopping publishing houses before hitting a disappointing dead end. At that point, Bill decided to pick up a watercolor kit from Walmart in order to do something different with his creative energy. William dove deeper into the watercolor medium as a way of expressing what needed to be released. With each new painting, Stidham continues to realize what needs to be healed in his own human condition. He refers to his paintings as "spiritual excercises." He challenges himself with every painting by destroying it and then bringing it back to life. Stidham has no formal education in art and thus refers to his ability as a gift. Bill currently resides in Austin, Texas. He asks one to not be critical of his/her own knowledge of art, because he sure isn't. Whatever touches you is a good enough reason to take it home and "give it love."

The Sacred Heart Series is garnering a number of awards and attention across the country from music lovers. William has been the featured artist at many of the biggest music festivals, including: Bonnaroo, ACL, Lollapalooza, Mile High, Outside Lands, Stagecoach and Bumbershoot.
William K. Stidham is the face of Austin, Texas music art. He is self taught and paints with watercolors, creating a dynamic and emotional signature style with his Sacred Heart Series. He has the rare ability to capture the essence, the soul of the people he paints. He describes them as emotional milestones for the journey of our lives, and asks finally: "What are you doing with your Sacred Heart?"
